With a plentiful of sweet potato leaves, ken harvested just the young shoots for lucy's stir fry with garlic, shoyu and a smattering of maple syrup. With a combo of Thai and sweet basil that were growing wild in the garden, lucy made some basil vinegar for the first time. Then it was time to make lunch. Fried brown rice pan fried with cubes of Chinese taro. Added finely chopped ginger and garlic, seasoned with vegetarian sauce. Tossed in young mustard cabbage to fast cook. Then, sprinkled toasted sesame seeds and topped with chopped green onions and cilantro. Went nicely with a side of kim chi.
Bitter melon of 2 different varieties add an interesting bi-color dish over special milled brown rice. Flavor is enhanced with a topping of shredded yellow sweet potato and homemade kim chi for added flavors and counter taste.
