Whey is healthy and can be used in dishes just as is or if too tart ken's veggies and plants love it...it's definitely makes everything stronger!
Homemade Greek yogurt, fat free cooked in a slow cooker is a long process, but rather simple. By using cheesecloth to line a colander you can drain the whey to the get the right consistency of yogurt you prefer. After straining off the yogurt, I was able to get more than a quart of Greek yogurt and 2 quarts of whey.

A great celebration at Hawaiian Brian's full of top notch local entertainers all of Tommy D musician friends. An extremely talented friend who loved tai chi and practiced everyday...just like our logo says! The Game of Life is a favorite with our grandchildren and they are ever so careful to keep this "vintage" set that their parents played with intact as they know it's about 60 years old! Listen to 9 year old Andrew make our piano of alomost 70 years old come alive! Spending the day with our 5 grandchildren who live here...missing the other 4 who live away!8/15/2019 Cooking some dishes for the vegetarians in the family. Stir fry kale, eggplant and tofu quinoa. Satisfying the pescatarians and meat eaters with baked brown sugar steelhead and garlic pan fried steak. The older grandchildren took care of the younger ones with lunch at Ala Moana, then catching the bus to their great grandmother's home in Kuliouou where lucy picked them up. So surprised and impressed they were taking turns raking under the HUGE mango tree that gave NOT one mango this year! Then a 4 way competition of the Game of Life, a vintage edition used by their parents of some 50 years ago! I'm sorry that I wasn't able to take any pics but another gratifying thing to see was Sophia and Colin playing outdoors nicely. She taught him how to climb rock wall! They picked tomatoes in Gungie's garden. Sophia came in with the last one to ask that I split it so they could share it!! After basketball practice which Ken took Andrew to and co coaches with Les, the nice eveinng ended at 7:30 with just a brush of teeth when they get home.
A busy but rewarding day to have them all over for the afternoon, play, dinner and showering. It was 43 years ago that we last visited Singapore when we lived on Guam! The hot humid weather didn't stop us from walking up to 15,000 steps, visiting friends, going out to Sentosa and Keppel island for family outings, museums, zoo, aquarium and doing tai chi along the river and along Orchard Road. Exploring Susan's kid time neighborhood and elementary school were special, too! Our layover in Taipei with a 3-4 hour breakfast buffet was a treat in itself! |
