Lucy is energized as she "kicks out with her left" with a double rainbow in the background. How could we be so lucky to have this opportunity?
Our trip to the valley isle of Maui brought back many memories when our son, Les and family, lived in Wailuku for 3 years. We not only stopped and drove around the neighborhood of their former homes, but,we also let Andrew and Sophia play in the various parks that they used to play when they were younger. They had a name for each park: Windy Park, Grassy Park, and Little Park. What next? Shave ice of course at a Ulu's.
We drove by Andrew's pre-school, the post office, the library and dad's office.
We stayed in Kihei, right across from the beach. We just walked across the street to build sand castles while Popo jogged on the sand. When the beautiful rainbow came out it was a great show. Popo looked like she was following the rainbow!
Although parts of Maui were under flash flood warning, we, instead, were given a gift of beauty that comes with the rain.
The vibrant double rainbow seemed at times to be coming out of the ocean! Gungie took some nice photos of this natural wonder.
On the beach we could see not only stand up paddlers but boats and ships in the background. Last, but not least, we spotted whales throughout the day while sitting on our lanai.
We played mini golf one evening in Maalaea where Popo had a streak of good luck with somehow getting not just one hole in one but 2 or 3 in a row, too! It was a great family outing enjoyed by all.
Our visit to the aquarium, Maui Ocean Center, was so very nice. Almost every fish and specimen was interesting. Below is our slideshow and video Gungie took for our memories.

We can't forget all the eating we did on Maui from roast beef and Porterhouse steaks grilled outdoors to homemade laulaus, chicken katsu from Waikapu when we had to keep the chickens from helping themselves to our bentos! The fish of the day at lunch at golf course and the elaborate buffet at Kahili Golf Course and sumptuous pies from Leona's were all big splurges! Things we will never forget.
Renewing friendships, making new friends, seeing how much the visitors appreciate our lovely outer island really makes us realize that we are lucky to have the opportunity to live in our special place of Hawaii!
