everydaytaichi students have expressed in their individual ways how tai chi has helped them in being more aware and sensitive to both activities and people
everydaytaichi student Roy Ono is "tuned into tai chi" as he begins his tai chi journey.
Roy, as you can see by his email to lucy, displays a sensitivity to other activities in life, a possible carry over of studying tai chi. Even in his description of how he sees and hears the tai chi fan dance to the cooking of boiled peanuts with every attention to detail of ingredients to aroma, Roy displays an awareness that we sometimes hear tai chi can bring us.

Hello Lucy and Ken,
I needed more Star Anise, for my boiled peanuts, so another foray into Chinatown this morning. As I exited Fook Lam Seafood Restaurant after a delicious dim sum breakfast, I heard a sound from inside the Cultural Plaza that intrigued me. Ventured into the plaza to find the source. The tai chi group was doing Tai Chi Fan and the opening of fans with an abrupt rustling snap created that sound. Aha! Each time the group opened fans, the sound was a thundering jolt in the semi enclosed plaza. I was mesmerized by the performance and stood fixed to the spot at an unobtrusive distance. What a treat it was to see Tai Chi Fan performed for the first time. It was more meaningful to see and enjoy having been through your Intro class. I just wanted to share my experience at the Cultural Plaza this morning. Another related experience on my tai chi journey. Thank you.

The peanuts were seasoned with Star Anise, Locorice slices, Bay leaves and Hawaiian salt. Sunday’s trip into Chinatown was to gather the Star Anise and Licorice slices. Found them at Sun Cheong store on Hotel Street. I was familiar with Star Anise but Licorice slices is new to me. While cooking, the herbal aroma from the combined spices was very nice. A bonus for the olfactory glands.
