Click on the pictures below to take your virtual tour
First port: Juneau, Alaska.
We visited the Salmon Hatchery, then to a Salmon Bake with the huge waterfall and peaceful stream. everydaytaichi ken strikes it rich as he pans for gold!
By far, our land excursion to Mendenhall Glacier, a moving river of ice in a distinctive blue color, was a sight to be seen!
From Juneau, we cruised north on the inland passage to Skagway.
Come with us for a walk into the mining city of Skagway, where we took a train ride up to the Yukon White Mountain Pass. The scenic train ride for 27 miles was very historic as we toured the ancient gold digging area.
We spotted a black and a cinnamon bear along the way.
The bus ride down the mountain was beautiful with several waterfalls, perfect warm weather and great mountain senery.
From Skagway, our next stop was to Ketchican.
Our walk downtown was very memorable and gratifying.
We found the right Eskimo doll shop for a friend, did some shopping for native crafts, and even saw a salmon ladder where salmon were trying to swim upstream in the rushing waters.
From Ketchikan we took a custom tour to see downtown Victoria, its beautiful garden, castle and view of the city... and Chinatown!
Our 7 day cruise comes to an end with our last stop back to Seattle.
Again, we walked to Pike's Market and Seattle Center where the Space Needle is located.
In Chinatown we enjoyed dim sum with Dr. and Mrs. Chen, Theresa's parents, whom we hadn't seen since Les, Theresa and Dave graduated from Harvard, some 18 years ago!
Again, we were fulfilled as we found a garden to do more tai chi.

Until we meet again...Dave and Yi Ting and Emily Ko, Joe and Theresa Thai along with Caty, Panda and Patrick.
Last but not least, to our Maui family,
Les and Susan with their two children, Andrew and Mei Mei,
who made it all happen!!

Some trivia about our 4 families: There were a total of 5 physicians to keep us healthy, a homemaker, a law professor, and 2 tai chi teachers. There were 6 children whose ages ranged from 7 months to age 12. Our homes are around the US: Oklahoma, New York, Maui and Oahu. Theresa, Joe, Dave and Les all did the same volunteer work while undergraduates at Harvard not quite 20 years ago!!
