OUT means to pivot on your heel and move to a 45 degree angle
-Be sure to move your body and align your hips as you rotate in the direction of the 45
degree angle
-Next, shift your weight gradually as you rotate your hips.
-This foot that advances assumes all your body weight. It is referred to the substantial foot.
-The foot with hardly any weight is the insubstantial foot.

HEEL means to step out in a 90 degree angle away from your back foot so that this heeled foot is
on the line of the floor tile or parallel to the line. The toes cannot flare out.
-Once the heel is placed down, gradually, shift weight, open knees and rotate hips and waist as
you advance.
-Straighten out back knee as you flex knee of the front leg. Be sure not to extend knee beyond
toes.
-Maintain tai chi posture with the imaginary cable that holds head erect. The cable also is aligned
to your dan tien or center of balance just below your navel. This provides for stability.

OUT and HEEL are done as a set where one foot is the OUT at 45 degrees and the HEEL foot is at 90 degrees. The FRONT FOOT is at 90 degrees and the BACK FOOT is at 45 degrees. No two feet can be in the same plane, but in a slightly wider stance. They alternate in the above respcitive position as you advance.
SIT BACK means to keep in your tai chi posture and shift weight to the back leg and flex
the knee as if to assume a sitting position.
-To properly SIT BACK fully one must elevate your front foot and place it on its heel.
-Maintain tai chi posture with head erect, back straight and buttocks tucked under.
-Avoid tipping the upper body and head backward.

Tai Chi Walk is like a zig zag walk with shifting of weight, rotating of body, and aligning your hips to your outward foot. It is the basis of all our tai chi movements.
If followed exactly, Tai Chi Walk can be done with the proper alignment as you shift your weight and rotate your hip and use your whole body to help you not only make the best of your body, but to smooth out and soften your tai chi movements.
