Food for Thought
everydaytaichi asked her students this question:
If you could describe Tai Chi as a kind of food, how would you describe it?
What would that food be?
Use your imagination to see how you can think of a food to describe Tai Chi.
Keep in mind that there are No Wrong Answers!
Every answer is correct as long as you can substantiate it!

According to everydaytaichi students,
Tai Chi is...
“like cooking a pot of stew.
You must combine the proper elements and slowly build a successful product. The different ingredients you need are like the different movements, they are essential to the outcome of the taste of the stew.” (Paul)
“...like water, essential to life.
It’s refreshing, it’s pure, it’s natural, it’s valuable, it’s good for your health,
just like Tai Chi is: beneficial, helpful, energizes, essential to life.” (Victor)
“...such a soft and graceful dance with lots of stretching, just like Chi Chi Dango (Mochi), which is also soft and can be stretched and it’s a treat, smooth and sweet.” (Marian)
...”like a bowl of jook because it’s a simple everyday meal with rice and bits of savory meats and it’s eaten to enhance inner energy and feel fulfillment.” (Sandy)
“...like a large naval orange because both consist of soft circular movements that are continuous that make up a whole exercise just like an orange.
There seems to be similarities between Tai Chi and an Orange: there is enjoyment in eating each segment just like in Tai chi, every movement gives you better health, it has soft nutrients that help me become more aware of my body helping me become more graceful and soft so that I can improve my health.” (Eleanor)
"...like a deliciously flavored parfait served in a beautiful tall, clear glass. In French the word parfait means "perfect." A parfait is concocted of eggs, cream, sugar and syrup. It is light and airy, yet smooth and refreshing. It is topped off with fresh fruit or whipped cream. Like Tai Chi is the ultimate form of exercise or dance, it too has many layers of understanding and interpretations. Tai Chi is also light and full of rich ingredients and together, like a parfait is the perfect exercise or dessert to be enjoyed. Parfait can be prepared in a home kitchen, just like how everydaytaichi can be learned and practiced in a warm and nurturing environment." (Lucy)
others have described Tai Chi like:
-French onion soup with its rich ingredients (Ron)
-Lasagne as it is made gradually in layers (Dan&Annette)
-Dark Chocolate because it is enjoyed a little at a time (Alice)
-Grains such as Wheat because it starts out small and powerful and in the end it is nourishing (Aurleen)
