Our 3 day extension in Taiwan proved to be well spent! We not only met with our son’s family but also were treated royally by Susan’s parents who took us on a customized tour to see the best in Taiwan!!
We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend Taiwan’s 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition where we had never ever seen soo many beautiful fresh flowering plants of numerous variety and quantity. The entire bleachers at the soccer arena was decorated with rows and rows of colorful flowers of various hues and perfume.
Here in Hawaii we usually see a few narcissus plants either in Chinatown or in one’s home, but at the Flower Expo fields of these flowers with their sweet smell only grown at this time of the year for Chinese New’s Year.
Produce of all kinds such as various teas, rice, grains, fruits and vegetables were displayed and described. This exhibition was clearly done in such great magnitude for all the world to see and appreciate.
Our dinner buffet at the famous Grand Hotel brought back memories when we were guests there some 35 years ago. This time around we did some Tai Chi poses at this spectacular hotel.
Our visit to the ocean town of Tamshui and coffee at Starbucks will always be remembered too.
The fabulous banquet to meet once again Susan’s relatives was nice after 2 years ago when we met them at Les and Susan’s wedding.
But above all our outing to the South Garden of Nan Yuan was very special. We will always remember that we felt at peace in an environment built according Feng Shui principles. We felt it was conducive to doing our Tai Chi.
And to visit with our grandson now 8 months old in Taipei was the highlight of all our touring!
