Lucy was there in voice... on the DVD, due to a previous commitment. After teaching LTK at Kahala Mall, I had a change of pace and had a nice lunch at Oahu Country Club with my UH Te Chih Sheh Sorority sisters. We had a great time renewing friendships, talking about retirement, tai chi, grandchildren, and sharing information about solar and electric cars! Needless to say, we had a ton to talk about, besides listening to a speaker from Hawaii Heritage Center.
NVMS Non Instructional Tai Chi started up again after a 2 month break. Our loyal participants were out this morning in spite of the rain, doggy class, soccer game and jazzercise all converging on the school grounds.

finally happened. Great to see so many returnees and a big welcome to all our NEW Tai Chi friends. Tuesday and Thursday class instructions for Lesson #1 are on YouTube.
Click on the tab called everydaytaichi4U, on the left of this BLOG for more information. Mahalo to Sam and Val Wong for having us as their guest at their annual appreciation luncheon. We all had a nice time laughing, playing games, renewing friendships, winning numerous lucky number prizes, besides enjoying a great lunch at Tree Tops. We felt rejuvenated and relaxed! Even our good friends have some difficulty with complicated names of people we know so well! Kahala Mall Luk Tung Kuen took on a NEW look. Up on center stage were a few of our LTK members, Carolyn, Victor, Pat and Amy. They, among others, led our group Friday and Saturday. Both Lulu and Lucy were taking precautions and chose to temper our activities temporarily. We now know we can be gone on a long vacation and not ever have to worry about who will take over for us. Mahalo to a great support group that also included Aurleen Kumasaka and Alice Lam. See more LTKers as they also belong to our Tai Chi family. They are, whom we call, people who cross train to stay fit. P.S. Lucy had a unusual treat. I could listen to my LTK instructions on the DVD that was being used for class, while I walked around the mall. Another Tai Chi friend and avid walker, Cynthia Hung and I waved to each other as we did our laps. Lucy,
How are you all? Here is another great article about the benefits of doing good tai chi chuan. A second one to come as a second email. I have been taking tai chi classes at the senior center for 3 1/2 weeks now. My new instructor does a few positions differently than we do so I am having to learn the Virginia way. I am fortunate that both of my instructors are former school teachers who know how to teach well. I miss you all and hope to be in Honolulu in May around UH graduation time. I will let you know. Also, we have put an offer on a house in Arlington and hope to move into it at the beginning of March. Send my aloha to all my former classmates and friends!I have given the everydaytaichi link to a couple of the students in my class. Have a good weekend! Genie Genie has sent two Tai Chi articles that I found very informative:
1. A Downside to Tai Chi? None that I See 2. Well: Tai Chi Benefits Patients with Parkinson's During Chinese New Year, Ken has continued a tradition he learned from his father. He enjoys this annual hobby of carving Narcissus bulbs so that the plant is thought to look like crab claws. Once a year Narcissus bulbs are available in Chinatown. They come from China. The narcissus is the Lunar New Year flower that is grown in the purest way. It requires very clean containers, clear water and lots of sunlight. The bulbs must be prepared and timed so that the blossoms appear at the beginning of the New Year period. Ken carefully carves into the bulb and scars the shoots so that the leaves and blossom stems curl. He has to carve carefully and accurately so the Narcissus blossoms are not accidentally injured. This art of culturing Narcissus requires patience, diligence and time. Click on the Narcissus blossom to see more details and the process of how it develops.
My cataract was successfully removed and an implant for distant vision is now in place. At last, I 'm able to see clearer and sharper. Colors are richer. I feel fortunate to see more details and appreciate our environment a little bit more. Dr. tells me that with time, I should be able to adjust a little more and then in another week things will stabilize. Thanks for all the support and concern. You can count on me to have yet a clearer vision in all sense of the word! See you soon~
