Back to eating from Ken's organic garden...after a big splurge on cruise ship buffet dining!6/26/2017 Our mustard cabbage was plentiful this round. The mustard cabbage hearts were steamed for our dinner! Some were pickled for sin choy. Pictures below show our empty garden after harvesting a big crop of all types of veggies. Gone are the Manoa lettuce, Chinese mustard cabbage or gai choy, bok choy and amaranth, dill ... But there's lots more kale cucumber, bitter melon, green beans, eggplant, tomato.... Last, but not least Ken's other garden has been producing some baby zucchini which are very, very sweet and special.
It's getting nearer to our departure date...we'll be back again!
Looking forward to playing tai chi in all the Baltic countries as shown above!! Looking forward to celebrating Father's Day and Ken's 73rd birthday in St. Petersburg where we'll be touring the Hermitage and Faberge Museum. If you are interested email me for more info. After 18 hours of keeping the raw culture warm and away from draft, the yogurt sets to a nice semi solid mass that looks like silky tofu. We then scoop out the yogurt into a colander lined with cheesecloth to separate the liquid or whey so that the yogurt is thick for Greek style yogurt. This process varies according to how thick you like to eat your yogurt. For me, I like it pretty thick! After nearly 2 hours of straining out the whey, I am satisfied with the results! From a gallon of non fat milk, I now have 2 quarts of Greek yogurt...our daily mid day or mid evening snack with a drizzle of honey.
