Mother's Day was very special this year. We spent the afternoon at the home of our mother where Lucy and her two brothers, Bob and David grew up. The original home built some 69 years ago by our mom's brother, Tommy, still stands on the Kuliouou property that our maternal grandfather, Lau Kam Sai, gave to our mom, Alice Lau Lo. Although, our Hayden mango tree has but a dozen fruits this year, it is better than usual. It gave mom a source of continuous exercise as she would rake its leaves 3-4 times a day.The ducks from the neighboring wildlife sanctuary have found a new quiet, cool place to roost. Our grandchildren of all ages love to climb up the tree. Today, our mango tree provided us shade for our Mother's Day picnic. Justine, Brennan, Andrew and Sophia strung leis for their moms, aunties, Popo, and Tai Tai. Just being together, just like old times, with 4 generations was fun and relaxing. We feel very fortunate to be under the mango tree with our 99.7 year old mom! Happy Mother's Day Mom, Grandma, Tai Tai!!
