Sophia's pre school class was taught a popular Hawaiian chant, Ke Ao Nani, by a Kaimuki middle school class. Sophia's faternal grandmother, lucy, remembers doing this same chant with bamboo implements at Aina Haina School as a second grader. As a first grade school teacher at Hahaione School, lucy led her first graders to the same chant some 50 years later. To hear her own granddaughter sing and perform it today brought such nice memories. Lucy's dad, William Lo, use to always "revive" this tune as he was a pro at singing various lyrics throughout the day. His siblings called him, " Happy" and we understand why they did give him such an appropriate nickname.
* Ke Ao Nani means the "Beautiful World."
